“Coleen Williams is a South African artist based in White River, Mpumalanga, near the inspiring Kruger National Park. After a successful career in graphic design, she returned to her roots and rekindled her passion for art in 2018, focusing primarily on watercolour.”

“Her work reflects a soulful exploration of colour, texture, and light, influenced by her background in digital design. Coleen’s paintings capture fleeting moments in nature – inviting viewers to slow down and appreciate the subtle beauty often missed.”

Meet the Artist

Hi, I’m Coleen… a South African watercolour artist with a deep love for the bushveld (and a possibly unhealthy fascination with eyelashes on birds).

I’ve always been drawn to the quiet moments in nature – the ones most people walk past without noticing. The flick of a tail in the shade… the glint of colour on a bird’s wing… the feeling of stillness in movement. That’s what I try to capture in my work: not just what you see, but how it feels to be part of it.

I paint slowly, with intention… layering soft washes… exploring fine detail… and letting the watercolour do what it does best: surprise me. Every piece is a conversation between instinct and observation. I love when people tell me they feel seen by the eyes of an animal in my art… or that a painting took them on a journey into Africa, even if just for a moment.

Nature isn’t just my subject… it’s my collaborator. I care deeply about the natural world. I talk to birds… side-eye litterbugs… and would love to start a fan club for aardvarks. Through my art, I hope to encourage others to slow down… really pay attention, and start noticing the life around them with fresh eyes (and maybe a little more love for warthogs).

Whether you’re here to browse… to find a piece for your home… or just to enjoy the view… welcome… I’m glad you’re here.
Boots optional, curiosity encouraged.
